Huntly gained revenge over their neighbours with an emphatic 6-3 win following their defeat last week at Inverurie. Scott Law with his second hat-trick of the week, Clark Morrison with two and Greg Dorrat were the scorers.
Huntly started strongly and nearly took the lead in the second minute, Law almost getting on the end of a Clark free kick.
However the opener arrived two minutes later when a powerful run and shot from Dorrat was saved but Scott LAW followed up to score.
The lead was short lived however and a dreadful mix up between keeper Ross and Clark ended up with a Colony player being fouled in the box and from the resultant penalty Colony equalized.
The Inverurie team then took the lead in the 11th minute when Scott McIntosh outstripped left back Thomson and scored a fine goal from a narrow angle.
Huntly fought back strongly and went close when Law and Dorrat combined well for the latter to shoot just past the post.
Huntly's equalizer came when a loose ball along the 18 yard line was smashed past the helpless keeper by Scott LAW.
On the stroke of halt time Clark Morrison sprung the off side trap, side stepped a defender and drilled a shot low into the net to put the home side 3-2 ahead.
Five minutes after the re-start LAW claimed his hat-trick, getting on the end of a Clark free kick to score from 6 yards.
Huntly increased their laed in the 57th minute when a Dorrat penalty was saved but MORRISON was first to react and netted the re-bound from close range.
DORRAT increased Huntly's lead to 6-2 when he also beat the offside trap to round the keeper to score.
Sloppy defending let Colony pull one back in the last minute but it was too little too late.
Huntly now look forward to the visit of league challegers Banks o' Dee tomorrow so instead of suffering at Christie Park get yourselves down to the Meadows to see what should be a great game.
