Oor cup run ended theday in Edinburgh and nae being biased, but the scoreline disna really reflect the game. The game was played in good spirit by baeth teams wi no bad tackles and baeth teams played good fitba. I was expecting Salvasen to be a bity stronger and the 1st 20 mins were slightly cagey, baeth teams makin half chances. At 0-0 Conner hit the cross bar fae 25 yds oot then oor back 4 went to sleep a wee bit. Oor marking and offside line was all over the place and we lost 3 goals before half time. The defence didna come oot quick enough either when we cleared any danger and left to much room to play in. 3-0 half time.
2nd half we started better but things just didna fa for us. Things were still tight but Salvasen were clinical at the other end and produced some good finishing to stretch their lead to 6-0 wi 15 mins left. The last 15 mins we actually got stronger and looked fitter and should have scored at least 4 times. We snatched at chances but I was delighted wi the attitude of the squad when they kept going right to the end when heads could quite easily have went down. 6-0 full time.
It was slightly dissapointing today because they didna oot class us by any means. The loons knew it at the end of the game too. We still did tremendously well to get that far which was an achievement in itself for the loons. Great experience for abody, team spirit was great on the bus and the loons behaviour was a credit to themselves and Huntly. Very proud of them all. Ross was oor man of the match today.
PS Thanks for all the good luck messages(much apreciated) and to the parents and others fa travelled down on the bus to provide excellent support for the loons.
