A really good game o fitba by baeth teams theday, alot o grit, crunchin tackles and attackin fitba on show wi nae quarter given.
The 1st half was tight. There was alot o good moves and the passin by baeth teams was good tae watch. For a while Glentaner were slightly sharper goin for the loose ba and there were a couple o corners that they showed a better will tae get tae the ba 1st. We probably had the best chances o the half, Ross made a good run on the right got in the box and had a good shot and Liam hit the post fae close range efter a couple o scrambled efforts. Glentaner never really had ony clear cut chances but that was partially doon tae oor good defendin. Half time 0-0.
2nd half was jist as good as the 1st but there was mare goal mooth action. We drew 1st blood aboot 10 mins in when a good move got
Jamie a couple o yards o space edge o the box he moved the ba to get a good strike at goal and fired a bullet past the keeper, 1-0. If there was onybody in the team ye winted that chance tae fa tae it wis Jamie. This got Glentaner goin as they had tae win tae keep the pressure on Deveronvale for the title. They made some good chances, maybe should hav hid a penalty when James looked tae hav teen doon their tricky no.7, but James made 2 or 3 top drawer saves to deny them. Glentaner drew level when a good cross fae their left eluded oor defenders and was met in the box by their forward, 1-1. Glentaner then forced James intae 2 heroic goal line saves and ha was valiantly helped oot by his defence tae complete the clearance. We werna backs tae the wa as we were goin forward ana tae win the game and Darren had 2 shots fae the left, 1 o them troubled the keeper. The best chance o the 2nd half fell tae us though wi 5 mins left when the ba broke tae Ross edge o the box and if his 1st touch was better he was clean through but it was slightly heavy and gave the keeper the chance tae collect. Steven nearly scored ana when his solid clearance in midfield looped up and nearly beat the keeper. 1-1 full time.
A draw was probably a fair result as it would hav been a shame for either team tae hav come awa fae this game wi a loss efter puttin so much effort in. This was right up there wi oor display against Cove in the scottish cup as best performance o the season. Everybody fought hard the hale game tae get a result which maybe wouldna hav been possible but for James's man o the match performance in goals. We matched Glentaner in every department theday and showed jist what we're capable o when everybody is switched on and hungry for it. Neal and Gary were rock solid in the fullback positions and had 2 tricky customers tae deal wi but baeth o them came oot on top. Neals fan club is also growin wi away support as he med a few mare friends today. Steven had another good game at sweeper and Rory was solid as ever. Ian never gave up in midfield and up front Jamie had his best game in ages and looked like he was enjoyin the game(hardly moaned at onybody). Efter the way we played the day the loons hav tae tak this form intae the next few games and finish the season on a real high. Oot o oor remainin fixtures this wis withoot doubt the hardest. Absolutly delighted wi the hale team theday and lookin forward tae Ellon on tuesday.
