Tuesdays match versus Riverside at Aulton proved just how a funny old game football can be at times. To follow on from Sunday's loss at Stoneywood we really needed to pick up all three points in this one to push Stoneywood all the way for a third place finish. However, having completely dominated a first half with at least 80% of possesion, we just couldn't capitalise on the many chances we had created and on another day could've had the match well out of sight by half time. We did score first through a good finish from James Brooks and had restricted Riverside to only two visits into our box, sadly one of which resulted in us losing a poor equaliser. H-T 1-1.
Second half was a different match with Riverside taking great heart from their fact they were still in the match and were competing much better to even the play up and actually took the lead with around 20 mins to go. Knowing we needed three points we decided to gamble by playing three at the back and pushed everything forward in search of glory, and we did haul ourselves level again through an excellent finish from Liam Henderson.
With the benefit of hindsight we should've again reorganised but decided to push for a winner, however those best laid plans went all wrong as Riverside overpowered us in the late stages eventually running out 5-2 winners.
Overall a poor result for us having easily beaten them in the home match, however i accept my part in this defeat with decisions which just didn't work for us in the end.
