Westdyke 7-1 Huntly Empty
PostSubject: Westdyke 7-1 Huntly   Westdyke 7-1 Huntly Icon_minitimeMon Mar 30, 2009 7:20 am

A tale o 2 halves theday, 1st half really good and positive, the 2nd absolutly woefull.
The game started badly for us(again!!!) losin the 1st goal 30 secs which we really should hav dun better to stop as Westdyke got in far to easily on oor left and crossed it in. We didna dae enuff centrally either in defendin it and left James helpless, 1-0. A wee while efter we settled doon and took a bit o control o the game. Neal and Ross got a lot o the ba on oor right and used it to oor advantage every time. Whenever they got the ba something positive happened and it seemed to spur on the rest o the team to reach the same hieghts and we played some lovely fitba. Jamie scored oor goal to capitalise on oor good play for 1-1.
Neal and Ross played a lot o good 1/2s with each ither and Ross put in a lot o dangerous crosses that gave us plenty o good chances. Ross also made a few good drivin runs from midfield wi the ba and got in good shootin positions, 1 of which resulted in him takin a knock fae the keeper. Against the run o play Westdyke took the lead with another bad piece o defendin, this time fae a throw in. You could hav heard a pin drop cos o the lack o communication between oor boys and cos o this Westdyke got in far to easy again for 2-1 half time.
2nd half started jist as badly as the 1st losin a bad goal 30 secs in again fae oor left for 3-1. Ross then had to come of as a result o his 1st half knock and it got even worse for us and we jist didna get goin ata. We jist exploded on oorsells. To many players went missin when it counted and the ones who did try and keep playin were totally overwhelmed and couldna dae much mare tae stop it. James made 2 crackers o saves to keep the score doon but was helpless wi some of the others as it finished 7-1.
I canna believe how good we played 1st half compared to 2nd. In my opinion Westdyke were there for the takin goin by oor 1st half performance, maybe oor best o the season so far, but 2nd half we didna deserve to be on the same pitch as them, it felt a bity embarassin. Their keeper probably only touched the ba 5 times if he was lucky 2nd half(all routine things). If Ross had managed to stay on it maybe would hav made a difference but we arna a 1 man team(or at least we shouldna be). There was nae enuff leaders on the park today which resulted in naebody haein a go at somebody for nae pullin their weight. Westdyke's big centre forward did cause us problems but at times we made it way to easy for him. So many things we did badly 2nd half I've nae enuff time tae go on aboot them a(trainin'll be good this week!) so to finish off I'll mention again how well we played 1st half.

Very unlucky boys to go 1-0 down that early. Played really well to get back into the game 2-1 at half time all though should have been 1-3. Second half started same as the first loosing 1 early goal then we seemed to loose the plot.

From the sidelines there seemed to be no shouting for the ball and no communication and 1 or 2 of our players running into each other. All in all we had a great first half with some really good football played and as mentioned before we just lost the plot in second half.

Now that's all the cup games out of the way hopefully we can concentrate and play well in the league.
