Huntly eventually ran out 5-0 winners but it was far from a convincing performance, albeit on a hard bumpy surface at Banchory today. A half time scoreline of 0-0 summed up a poor performance with no-one emerging with any credit.
However a half time talk from coach Hamish Cameron seemed to waken them up and they finally found their scoring touch.
Huntly had dominated for much of the first half without really threatening the home goal. It took the visitors until the 18th minute to trouble the Banchory keeper, Barron having a snap shot saved. The same player went close again in the 28th minute, this time shooting wide.
A scramble in the box in the 32nd minute almost brought the opener but Jamie Cooper's header hit the bar.
The second half started in the same vein with Barron again going close with a head flick from a Clark free kick and then McIntosh hitting the bar.
However the opener came in the 43rd minute when Grant BRYCELAND ghosted in at the back post to knock in a cross ball.
Huntly increased their lead in the 53rd minute when Scott LAW cut in from the left and shot past the keeper. The same player then went on a run which resulted in his shot being save but Josh BARRON followed up to score.
Huntly were at last playing good football and McINTOSH made it four, running on to a Law through ball and easily beating the keeper.
LAW made it five four minutes from the end when he made space in the box and netted from 12 yards.
Games are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday this week so the youngsters will be looking to keep up their winning run but they'll have to play a lot better for that to happen. No doubt coach Cameron has told them!
