Last night we were on league business versus Donside at McRobert Park, Foggie . Donside had been getting fairly good results in the league so we always knew it was going to be a tough test for us. With our squad fairly thin on the ground at the moment due to holidays and injuries we did have the luxury of having Liam Ferguson returning to the middle of the park from injury. We got off to a good start and were creating chances early doors but you could see that Donside were well organised and going to be dangerous on the break, however just 15 minutes into the match we were dealt another blow injury wise when Andrew Munro went down and was unable to play any further part. this was a huge blow for us as Andrew has been on fire of late and is always liable to give the opposition trouble with his pace. Once the match settled down though it was a good game to watch with both teams trying to play football and as a real midfield battle went on both sets of strikers were met by strong defences who were on top of their game but I do think that Donside passed the ball much better than we did on the night . With little goal mouth action you got the feeling that either something special or a mistake was going to be required for the deadlock to be broken, unfortunately for us midway through the second half a shot at goal caused a mix up in our defence as both players left it for each other and the ball slid between them and nestled in the net 0-1. The lads responded well though and began to push Donside back in search for an equaliser and came close on a few occasions but with the clock ticking down on us and with the points slipping away, up stepped Aiden Bowie who just back from injury had ran himself into the ground and following a good move down the left had got his reward as he beat a few players before forcing home the equaliser to give us a deserved share of the points.1-1. Overall a good point at the end of the day with Matthew Anderson again outstanding in goal for us, a good defensive performance also as the tall striker for Donside was quite a handful at times but they handled him well , Midfield four battled well all day but I still feel we just seem to lack that killer instinct as we go forward. Man of the match, Jack Duncan who was assured with his tackling and passing throughout. well done though lads.
