Donside 3-2 Huntly

After watchin us last nite, it's hard to believe we didna win that game. We did everthing right but put the ba in the net! Donside were 2nd best a ower the pitch except in the department that coonts the maest, takin your chances. Ower the hale game they maybe only had 5 shots, Gary in goals had next to nithin tae dae. We could hav had 20 goals if we had taken the chances we had and I dinna think that is an exaggiration!
1st half started we us well on top, pepperin they're goal wi shots. We were playin some nice passin fitba and oor attackin players were a hungry for the ba. Donside were quite slow at the back and Conner was playin some good forward passes for the likes o Ross, Darren and Liam to use they're pace in behind. 1 of oor best 1st half moves saw Liam wi a crackin back heel flick play Ross in who was unlucky wi his shot. Against the run o play Donside took the lead when Neal uncharacteristicly missed a clearance and they're player sneaked in to gie Gary nae chance, 1-0. Neal had the boy that scored in his back pooch all nite and that goal was the only thing he did the hale game. We kept goin forward, makin chances and Jamies corners were 1st class, it's jist a pity we didna hae onybody brave enuff to jist attack that ba. Jist before half time Donside got a second when Steven had to come through in midfield to try and win the ba, as the centre midfielders werna, and cos o this they got in(dodgy for offside) and scored again, 2-0 halftime.
2nd half we had all the ba again and Ross was usin his pace to great effect to get in behind. Jamie came to the fore 2nd half ana pickin up the ba and makin things happen and he was helped bi Liams selfless runnin up front and Darrens pace. Jamie got oor 1st goal wi a great low finish across the keeper fae the left for 2-1. Ross was bein played in at will and wee Mathew Henderson played a great pass through for him but the keeper pulled off a great save to deny him. The equiliser wisna lang comin though when Ross got in again wide right, put in a good low cross which Luke met, the keeper saved it but it spilled ower to Ross again who followed it in and scored fae a tight angle 2-2. We had levelled it wi 15 mins left but wi 10 mins left Donside scored they're 3rd when a couple o over zealous Dads on oor side were to quick to claim a ba had run oot, the fair linesman Mr Goodall quite rightly kept his flag doon and what was probably a hit and hope fae Donside perfectly looped over Gary for 3-2. If looks could kill then Jamie's glower to his Dad efter this would hav din it. We piled forward in search of an equiliser for the last 10 and they're keeper was called into action a heap o times to mak saves but whatever we did didna come off in oor favour. Final score 3-2.
At full time the ref and Donside's coach baeth said they couldna believe we didna get somhing fae the game. You couldna fault ony of oor loons for effort or how we played as this was probably the best we've played for few weeks. The penny's finally dropped noo hopefully wi the shoutin to each ither as there was very little confusion wi who was goin for fit ba and hi ba's were being met wi a confident shout and head on the ba. Oor fitba was intelligent and the loons picked up on Donside's weaknesses. There were many outstanding performances from oor loons last nite, Ross, Neal, Liam, Daniel, Rory but there are 3 I'm goin to gie special mention tae. 1stly wee Mathew Henderson who before Tuesday hadna met ony of the loons, came on at half time and looked like he's played wi us all season. 2ndly Steven, who for me was the best player on the park by a mile. He organised the defence, the midfields markin jobs, was calm on the ball keepin it simple if he had tae or playin the right pass to get things movin and he mopped up every loose ba in defence. Last but not least though is Jamie who got the players man of the match as he is back to his snarlin best. Very pleased wi how we played last nite jist a pity aboot the result. Muggiemoss on sunday, Deveronvale tuesday and Colony Park thursday.

Would have been at this game if MIKE had remembered i was looking for a lift. But think the sleepless nights must be getting to him. Ha Ha.
