Having suffered two defeats in our last two matches we were a bit worried that should we suffer the same fate today the lads heads would go down and send confidence to an all time low. We didn't face the easiest of tasks when a stuffy East End Delta provided the opponents at a wet McRobert Park Aberchirder. From the off EED put us under some real pressure with their two tall forward players causing us all sorts of problems with good movement and power in the early stages. Although our lads were asked to build on last weeks good performance , by fourteen minutes had found ourselves trailing by two goals to nil ,and a mountain to climb in the second half. Our first half display today was one we should quickly forget. HT 0-2.
Second half began with our lads determined to claw themselves back in to the match, and were soon just that when Matthew Anderson sent a good pass through to Andrew Munro who produced a superb finish low into the corner.1-2. This sparked the lads into action and were now pinning EED onto the backfoot, when a great solo run and finish from Billy Blanchard brought us level,2-2 much to the astonishment of the Delta supporters. The lads now in the midst of a good spell in the match were awarded a freekick wide on the left and when Liam Ferguson sent in a superb cross the ball broke to Liam Robertson who beat a couple of challenges and slammed home his first goal in a Huntly jersey (first of many we hope).3-2. The comeback was complete when Aiden Bowie just on the pitch played in ,the now on fire Andrew Munro whose sublime finish capped a memorable comeback from the lads 4-2. EED did however pull one back which made for a very nervous seemingly endless finish to the match. FT 4-3
Overall glad to get back to winning ways after a superb comeback given the mountin we gave ourselves to climb first half against a team who along with their followers tried every trick in the book to steal all three points from us.
Man of the match today was ran very close by brilliant second half performances from midfield duo Liam Ferguson and Billy Blanchard but not only for his two goals Andrew Munro provided the spark for a memorable comeback with flashes of brilliance and sheer determination showing much more of the potential we know he possess, well done Andrew!
