A warmer, and drier, morning than last week and the 14s played host to East End with high hopes of avoiding a repeat of the disappointing 0-2 result from their earlier league encounter.
Any thoughts of a repeat performance were quickly dispelled as Huntly came out of the trap like the proverbial hare, swarming all over East End, and totally dominating the first half.
The odd few chances that East End made were quickly dealt with by a solid back line, which, without McInnes, saw Bremner deputising in an unfamiliar Sweeper role to great effect.
The lads played some really good passing football, created a lot of chances, and if it hadn't been for a good performance by the East End keeper the half would have finished with a tally greater than 4-0.
The 2nd half proved to be harder work, and a bit scrappier, perhaps the shape was lost a bit with substitutions, but nevertheless the lads continued to create their chances and once again the defence worked well, holding a good line to break up any East End incursions. However 3 goals were lost, and without a couple of really well worked and taken goals from Donaldson and Alexander, it could have finished on a nervous note.
One disappointment from the morning was the attitude of the visiting coach and parents, who loudly and vulgarly questioned every decision against them, and were, sadly, haranguing Huntly players. Following the final whistle, I'm told that the lads were subjected to what could be described as an overly firm handshake from the East End manager, accompanied with the words, 'this is what you get'.
Absolutely no need for any of that nonsense.
