Huntly 6-2 Formartine

Great win for us today with only 11 fit players. A couple of loons had to play slightly oot of position but it didna seem to affect how we played, Ross played right back and had a blinder. We started the game well and had some good possession and scored 1st when Darren slid in to finish off Ross's low cross. 1-0. Formartine scored with their 1st shot nae long efter, a top corner long ranger that James had no chance with. 1-1. Mare good fitba from us made some mare chances then Ian put us 2-1 up when he sneaked a shot in at the near post. Once again Formartine came back and scored when their forward got in the road of a cross and the ba fooled James and went in. Me and Mark baeth felt the forward didna caen much aboot it. 2-2. We retook the lead when Liam muscled his way through, his 1st shot was saved, he then hit the follow up at the keeper again but 3rd times a charm and he scored it. 3-2 half time.
2nd half they got wise to Ross's forward runs and pegged him back a bit but that allowed Jamie to get more involved on the left. We took more control of the game and oor defence limited Formartine to hardly a sniff. James was sweeper keeper even if they did get through plus his handlin, and kicking was excellent all day. Conner got oor 4th with a strong finish fae 12 yards, 4-2. Liam then completed his hattrick with the 5th & 6th. Jamie slid him in bonny wi a great pass for no.5 and for no.6 Ian played him through and he finished it off well. 6-2 final score.
All the loons played well today and it was a good team effort to get the win. It's another "A" team scalp we've taken so it should gie us confidence to challenge at the top of oor "B" league. I couldna decide the man o the match today so it went to a player vote and it was even between Ross and Steven. I think that James needs a mention for his performance in goals. He gave us the solid base that helped us get this result today.
ps. another fixture to add to oor already big fixture pile up. sucsess comes at a cost.

just had a look of the league tables and Formartine are top of the "A" league. We ootplayed them today nae probs. Thats an even better result than I 1st thought then boys.

without taking any gloss off your win I think Formartine came out of the easiest qualifying group and have yet to play any of the A League big guns, but to inflict a defeat on any side from a higher grade is a super achievement well done.

Was back in my sick bed again today so missed it - how did their left back and forward (lad with short gelled up hair) play ??

& lads, youre now away to Turriff in the next round - they are in the other B League.

a great win and performance today considering its the first game the boys have had for a few weeks- but you would not think it the way the boys started and finished the game. The team was solid all the way through, you can see james is gaining more and more confidence with every game, the defence was solid, iain worked like a tiger in midfield and liam gave them a lot of problems up front. Praise must go to mike and his coaching team also, he was down to just 11 players today and had to shuffle his pack about a bit. you can see in training and matches the way the boys listen and respond to their instructions and advise. a great team effort!

ah, I caen fit your sayin aboot Formartine but u winna manage tae tak ony gloss of oor win, weak "A" league team or no. Your former left back got a 1st half roastin fae Ross (Danny McGrain) Mackie and your striker.... well Arnie took care of him, "he wont be back, asta la vista Formartine"

To my knowledge, I know of only 1 fellow Evertonian who is from Huntly, a certain postie from Seton Drive! There could be more out there however! Anyway a decent result for the Toffee's last night against the millionaires from Chelsea, just saw Terry's tackle on "You-Tube", nae wonder he was red-carded, what a shocker!
