After suffering two defeats in our last two outings, Sunday's match versus Upper Deeside @ Foggie was about getting back to basics, and to winning ways. Right from kick off our passing and use of the ball was much better, finding good width on both flanks and creating a few chances through good passing moves and switch of play to wide areas where we caused them endless problems with Liam Robertson and Jonny Buist well supported by the full backs Ritchie Gibb and Muir Gregor. However, having created most of the chances i still feel the best two fell to the deesiders and had it not been for Jordan Ogg in goal we may have found ourselves at one point trailing to a team rooted at the bottom of the table. Then just before the break we were unlucky not to be in the lead after Liam Henderson hit a beauty from some twenty five yards only to see it elude the keeper and crashing off the crossbar. H-T 0-0.
Second half began much better for us when we eventually found a cutting edge to go with our inter passing play and 2 mins in we were a goal up when Liam Henderson showed great skill with good feet and a sublime pass through saw Andrew Munro turn brilliantly and finish low past the keeper 1-0.This was the key to opening the flood gates for us and again Andrew Munro showed great determination as he challenged the keeper following a good high delivery from Billy Blanchard only for Andrew to get the touch to send it into the net 2-0. It was virtually one way traffic from here on in as the lads took a real stranglehold of procedings, then two magnificent corner deliveries from James Brooks produced two more goals first Aidan Bowie scrambled home to make it 3-0 then Lee Inglis got on the end of another to shoot home his first of the season. Credit to Upper Deeside they kept plugging away and as Liam Ferguson weaved his way through he was brought hastily to the ground ( more a tired tackle than malicious), But Liam got back to his feet, dusted himself down and sent a beautiful free kick high over the keeper and into the net 5-0.
Overall just pleased to see the lads back playing the football there very capable of, as we did loose our way a wee bit in the previous matches where thats concerned.
Good performances throughout the team but the pick of the bunch (man of the match)for us was Liam Henderson whose a quiet lad but boy can he play football with good slick movement and passing and always looking to get on the ball, OH and a great striker of the ball also. Well done lads!!
