BYRON ATHLETIC V HUNTLY 14's Empty
PostSubject: BYRON ATHLETIC V HUNTLY 14's   BYRON ATHLETIC V HUNTLY 14's Icon_minitimeMon Sep 29, 2008 6:35 am

Today we were on our travels this time to face Byron Athletic at Sheddocksley. The match got off to a good start for us with Andrew Munro rattling the crossbar within two minutes. Six minutes later we were ahead with a good strike from the on form Liam Ferguson. 0-1.
That seemed to open the floodgates for us in the first half when play quickly switched from one end to another and Aiden Bowie playing in Andrew Munro to make it 0-2. With good pressure and possesion play from Huntly the crossbar was again to Byrons rescue on two further occasions, first from a James Brooks shot and then to deny defender Jack Duncan's great header. Next on the score sheet for us was Aiden Bowie with a first half brace, first a strike from the edge of the box to make it 0-3 and then following good link-up play with James Brooks saw Aiden shot home number four. 0-4. The lads were now full of confidence and you could see it in their play as they were in complete control of the match and eager to get involved when good midfield play and a great through ball from Liam Ferguson saw James Brooks score number five with a well executed drive. 0-5. To round up a brilliant first half display from the lads Liam Ferguson scored number six with another great shot from the edge of the box. Half time 0-6.
Second half saw us change things a little as the match wore on but it was more of the same from the lads enjoying the bulk of possesion and going about their business very well, being rewarded with two further goals, the first of those being a shot from Aiden Bowie coming off the post but he ran onto bundle it over the line to complete a well deserved hatrick. Byron did pull one back before a dipping drive by Andrew Munro completed the scoreline.Final score 1-8.
Overall a well deserved victory following a faultless performance from the boys and we hope they will take great confidence into the matches ahead. Good displays allround today and a hatrick for Aiden Bowie but man of the match was for a midfield performance from Billy Blanchard who worked tirelessly, creating and linking up well with those around him proving a constant thorn on Byrons side throughout.
Well done lads!!. Very Happy

Excellent performance from the 14's yesterday, I saw practically the whole game, and Huntly totally over-powered a poor Byron team who got absolutely no encouragement from their Coaches who constantly barracked the poor kids the whole game and seldom were the words "well done...." actually heard!! These boys are all 13 years or younger and they MUST be given encouragement at all times, nae wonder they get heavy beatings all the time if thats the way their Coaches talk to them, their confidence is shot to bits!!

Anyway, well done Huntly Under 14's you played well, and I was particularly impressed with your passing and movement throughout and "Fergie" had a great game in Midfield, as did a few of the other lads.

The team I'm Assistant Manager of (Middlefield Wasps Under 15's) played Byron Under 15's after this game, on the same pitch, and we comfortably beat them 4 - 0 (4 - 0 going on 10!) Although the Byron Under 15's have a better Keeper and Defence than their Under 14's team do.

All the best lads!
