Huntly vs Stonehaven
Following a few good performances, the Huntly lads might have been expected to be on a wee roll, but unfortunately it wasn't to be, losing 2 goals inside 10 minutes, and being lucky it wasn't more. Stonehaven dominated the first half as Huntly tried to wake themselves up.
HT 0-2
The second half was much better, with the lads putting on some pressure, and some early hope was offered with a free kick on the left of the 18 yd box which McInnes banged in beautifully over the wall to the top right corner, 1-2, but the respite was short lived as the visitors quickly cancelled this out to restore their 2 goal lead.
Some further sustained pressure on the Stonehaven goal then saw McInnes strike a cracker of a long range shot, 2-3, and once again hope was restored, but almost immediately the lads lost another, this time through a missed offside decision. 2-4
As time ticked down a bit of urgency seemed to dawn on the lads and they started to pile on a bit more pressure, which brought 2 well worked goals from Pratt & Higgins but it was to be too little too late, and meanwhile Stonehaven had their 5th to nail the win.
It was, overall, a disappointing outing for Huntly, and Stonehaven deserved the win.
On a positive note, there were some really good performances from a few individuals, but, however well those few played, they can't be expected to do everything themselves, and the whole team needs to get into gear & play from the whistle.
