5 - 0 Cove full time! Thank god I couldn't be bothered going, saved myself time AND money! Maybe the Management team will see sense and actually play the best Keeper in the League now! Not saying that Hastie was to blame or anything, as I wasn't there obviously, but Brems is definitely better than him!

Memo to the Management team : "Play your strongest team!"

ouch Sad Sad

that was a tough one tonight

Cove looked very slick and moved the ball about at pace.

Speaking about pace they were quick out wide and stretched us

Like micky g i dont post that often but last night was a complete joke any cross that came into the box caused problem in our defence it was a joke they scored from 2 corners and it was the same both time and could of had a 3rd if it was on target. i was at the loco's vs vale game on saturday and locos score 2 of there 3 goals for set plays. i think bad things are on the way this weekend!!!

I think it will take more than that bovril. to be honest none of the goals were really the keepers fault. it was our defence, we have no height at the back, like i said they looked like they were going to score everytime the ball was crossed in.

I'm not blaming Hastie for the pasting.
But Brems is much better at organising his defence and is more vocal.
This was lacking last night.

Have to agree with bovril on brems organisation skills. Even at the Wick game brems was the most vocal player there and he was on the bench!! Get him back in between the posts! I wonder what Jim Leighton's thoughts on it were??

Cove were far superior in all aspects last night. With Cove having several players taller than the majority of our defence, not to mention our keeper it looked bad from the start.

The team as a whole were awful and the blame can't be put on any one player.

Agree 100% need some one to be talking at the back, getting the players told and Brems should be starting vs the Loco's.

Also does anyone know what is wrong with Dorrat???

last nite was an embarrasment, title challengers? on that performance the players have blown a great oppurtunity last nite to close the gap at the top off the table an to think i gave up food to catch the bus to the match.....

brems has to be in goals for us after all he was the man between the sticks for most off our games before christmas in which we only lost 3 league games i think? and helped us to get in the position we are now in the league, teams going backwards without with out him in goals

an for dorrat i dont think he is injured an just hasn been selected for whatever reason.

It seems the "system" keeps changing. When was the last time we played 2 games in a row with the same team? Also was told a story that Andrzej was told not to travel to fort and we had "bigger" games to play, shambles. Cove Rangers v Huntly Icon_redface

As i wasn't at last nights game i can't comment on it,but i would say that the buck stops with the players. It's easy to blame team selection and systems but the team selected last night should have been good enough to give Cove a harder game.I personally think Huntly have over achieved this season but the last month they have been shocking, last nights debacle has been coming for weeks.Having got into contention, last night showed the team can't go the next step of staying in contention and winning the big games. Can Huntly attract the players to take the club to the next level?Has the constant changing of the team affected the players attitude to the management? Is the squad too big and because of this does Mcgin try to keep everyone happy to the detriment of the team?Feel free to answer these questions!

see where u are coming from with squad size Martin (as a Coach in another sport I know the problem of keeping a squad happy)

however more than a few times this season we have not had a full bench OR had injured guys on the bench due to the numerous injuries so a difficult one to balance

I am still of the opinion that the players are too quiet on the park I know there are guys who are naturally quiet but someone needs to get them going

Last night showed that we do have a bit of a soft centre.
A side with Scott Anderson, Levi, and Uncle McGinlay would have been mixing it up big time to put Cove off their stroke.
As much as I despise Brooner of Buckie's style, you do need players like that in a team to give character, edge, and drive.
We just rolled over against a Cove team who have that successful mix of ability and putting it about.
And that's why Brems has to be in the side.He is of that ilk. Most highland strikers are scared of the big b*gger. And it spreads through the side.
Attitude in this league counts as much as talent and you have to ask yourself would you go over the top of the trenches with the guy next to you.
Last night was like an episode of Black Adder.

But it's done with...so we need a bit of anger and pride on Saturday.

In this respect, my very able motivational coaches, Shrek and Casual are available for the pre-match team talk.
Although McGinlay has now perfected the hair dryer act, I have equipped the boys with flame-throwers.
And they know how to use them.

PostSubject: Re: Cove Rangers v Huntly   Cove Rangers v Huntly Icon_minitimeFri Mar 26, 2010 9:34 am

Last night was dissappointing, dont take anything away from cove as they looked good and worthy challangers to the title. They played to their strengths, 2 big centre halfs one everything at the back, Johnston up front caused Huntly problems with his height and the 2 wingers in Stephen and webster caused huntly alot of problems with pace and directness in their play, I also thought Mcculoch played very well in the middle of the park.

I feel Huntly need to be more vocal on the pitch, which Brems and Cooms would bring to hte team if they were selected. Brems would organise those in front of him and cooms would give the height and presence to compete with strikers like Johnston last night. If managemet feel that Cooms is not sharp enough yet then why was he taken back from his loan so soon ?? On a positive note I thought Mikey and the Polish lad looked like they could strike up a agood partnership if they are given the time. Rossco also gave his all throughout.
It was not a good day at the office, against a lesser team we might have got away with it, but the way Cove played, we had no chance.

We now need to concentrate on finishing as high as possible in the league, this can only assist McGin with bringing in players who he feels can improve the team in the summer and then build for next season.
