The Huntly HL 17s lost their first match in the Development league this season to a very strong, well drilled Peterhead side.
The fact being that most of their players being a year older and gaining experience playing junior football showed up very much on the field of play.
Their is always something to be learned from these games and in a year's time this is what the huntly lads should be looking to aim for. I think it is fair to say, you learn more from loosing than winning matches.
Not all of them will make it! But they have to learn to give it their all! Applying themselves to training and working on their mental and physical approach to the game. They cannot afford to hide or sit back in a game and be pressed into submission! They have to
learn to fight their own corner and work as a team providing support for one another on the field of play.
Parents especially must remember this is a league formed as a stepping stone to semi- professional football and not a youth league for enjoyment of the game, that is what the Aberdeen and District Juvenile Football League provides a service for.
The 17's play FRASERBURGH (away) on Sunday 9th November 2008 and it will be a chance for the lads to show they have learned
something from their defeat at Peterhead and to work at improving their game as individuals and as part of a team.
