Today we played at McRobert Park ,Aberchirder versus Stonehaven YFC Swifts, and credit to the boys hard work, ran out comfortable winners.Although the lads started slowly in the match the first goal came for us in the 13th min when a corner from Liam Ferguson was headed home brilliantly by defender
Jack Duncan 1-0. Another defender Lee Inglis was next to try his luck from another corner but his low shot brought a good save from the opposition keeper. It then took us till 22 mins to extend our lead when good work from Andrew Munro on the right saw his cross met by
Liam Ferguson who drove home an unstoppable effort 2-0.Next on the scoresheet was
James Brooks who picked up on some loose play by the swifts defence and executed a beautiful strike over the helpless keeper 3-0, the lads were brimming with confidence by now and playing some good stuff being rewarded with an
Aiden Bowie double just before the break following good strikers intinct and follow up play as he sent us in at halftime leading by 5 goals to nil. HT 5-0.
Second half started as the first had finished with the lads in almost complete control and Aiden Bowie searching for his second hatrick in as much weeks saw his shot only half cleared before
Andrew Munro forced the ball against a Swifts defender who turned it into his own net to make it 6-0. The game went a bit flat for a spell when
Matthew Anderson was sent on and re-ignited the action with a superb double after two good moves were well finished. 7-0,8-0.
Lads rounded off a brilliant performance with no.9 after good work by James Brooks was met at the back post by
James Higgins who calmly finished to round up the score line, full time 9-0.
Make no mistake this was a very fine performance by the lads as the swifts proved no mugs playing good football at times and we know that stiffer matches awaits us. Good team performance allround and a very pleasing first clean sheet, although we hate to single players out we did think Jack Duncan emulated previous good displays today with superb reading of the game and as a man of the match was very hard to choose Lenny and i both thought Liam Ferguson just stole it with another majestic performance, Well done lads!!
and hope you all enjoy a wee rest as we will be idle for the next two Sundays but training nights will continue through the holiday period as normal 6.30 till 8.00pm on Wednesday nights at the meadows astro-turf.
