With the season just finished I thought I would take a look back at the high points and low points of what has been a fairly good season for the 16's.
The season didnt get off to the best of starts with eventual league winners Cove beating Huntly 4-2. However the lads got their first victory in the next game when they won 6-1 at Ellon.
A thrashing (9-0) from top Division 1 side Albion then followed in a cup tie but the lads shook that off and went on a 6 game winning streak which only came to an end when defeated 4-2 by Westdyke, another Division 1 side, in another cup tie.
The following match at Deveronvale cost us dearly when a last minute shot from Law was stopped on the line by a defender with his arm but the referee denied Huntly's claims for a penalty. Thus two valuable points were dropped.
January and February saw only three games played in total due to frost, snow and waterlogged pitches. However, in one of the games that was played Huntly racked up their highest win of the season, a 22-1 defeat of Stonehaven Spurs.
March proved to be a mixed month with two wins and two defeats, one of the defeats coming against Culter who finished six places below Huntly at the end of the season.
After a 1-0 defeat at Colony Colts on 10th April the lads then went on another good run, winning seven and drawing one out of eight games played.
Cove again brought us down to earth with a 12-4 hammering on 25th May before a final game win against Ellon last Saturday.
So the lads finished up in fifth place out of fourteen teams (assuming Colony Colts are awarded the points from an unfullfilled fixture). Depending on re-organisation they may actually play in the First Division next season but this is yet to be confirmed.
Right back Richard Brown deservedly took both the Managers and Players Player of the Year awards for his consistent displays.
Scott Law finished as top scorer with 42 goals, followed closely by Greg Dorrat with 39.
Goal scorers as follows;
Scott Law 42
Greg Dorrat 39
Lewis Hendry 15
Callum Mcntosh 14

Looking forward, most of the lads have signed up for next season and one or two new faces are expected so hopefully we can build on this seasons platform and go from strength to strength.
Enjoy you summer holidays.
See you all next season.
Here comes the sun.........
