WOW...

What a year for Huntly Youth Football Club!

Where to start? The 2007/2008 season is just about reaching its end. An end that has seen all of our teams in the Aberdeen and District Juvenile league and the Highland Youth League triumph! A year that has seen 23 of our boys visit Kevin Keegan’s Soccer Circus in Glasgow AND be treated to VIP corporate hospitality at a Hibs game at Easter Road. We have started a community football coaching programme for the under 12’s which has exceeded all expectations. As a club, many out there are beginning to “sit up and take notice” for what we are about.

Before we move on to plans for next season, can we take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to all those people who have given their time, money and commitment over the last year; without you all our jobs in running the club would be impossible!

Our Coaches – so much time is given up by these guys (and girls!) who show passion for our cause and give so much so the boys (and girls!) can enjoy football

The Committee – members past and present who have worked so hard fundraising, organising and just doing the stuff that makes the existence of the club possible

The Parents – for supporting the boys week in, week out – in all weathers(why is the sleet so hard in Peterhead?); making sure there is transport for games and training, washing the kits

The Match Secretaries – all the phone calls, early Sunday morning starts; making sure all the league requirements are met

Robin, Robbie and the Board of HFC – for supporting the vision and themselves believing that “the Youth Programme” is worth believing in

The Sponsors – Without these guys our club would not exist; a special thank you to Robbie whose generosity this year halved the boys subscriptions

Grant – for the brilliant new youth section on the HFC web-site

Finally, The Boys – for being part of the team; showing enthusiasm all year and having the ability to still smile when things don’t always go your way! (funny old game)

BBQ

Put this date in you diary…Sunday 25th May at 2pm. This is the day the trophies will be presented at all levels for “Player’s Player of the Year” and “Manager’s Player of the Year”. Come along, support the boys and get a free burger! Sandy, Gordon and Debbie and the coaches will be on hand to answer any questions

May Day Car Boot Sale

A very successful (and hot!) day; thanks to all those who donated goods for the table. Debbie never wants to see another buttery again… ever! Special thanks go to Melissa Morris and Adam Bullimore for selling the sweepers!

Next Years Teams

We have entered teams in the following leagues for the 2008/2009 season. There are more teams than we have ever entered and inevitably this means our costs are going to increase. Kits, Training Gear, Equipment, Facilities Hire, etc, etc. If anybody wishes to sponsor a kit, or knows of anybody who would be willing to make a donation towards the running costs of the club please let Sandy know.

Quality Mark

“The Scottish FA Quality Mark is a "National Plan for Youth Football Development" initiative which supports grassroots club development. With 250 clubs and schools already participating, over 4000 coaches have benefited from coach education and first aid training to date. Via Quality Mark, the Scottish FA and partners will work with clubs and schools to broaden youth and community participation and to enhance player, coach and volunteer development.”

We are just about there and have one more audit or inspection before we are granted this distinction.

Volunteers

JOB SATISFACTION - Do you want to work with children? Do you enjoy being outside? Would you like to be able to choose your hours? Would you like to get fit and have fun without going to the Gym? Get involved with the community? Be part of an organisation that is forward thinking with the welfare and protection of children at its heart? Be supported in your role? End your day with a real sense of achievement?

If any of this applies to you, you probably have the skills we are looking for…get in touch with either Gordon or Debbie for a chat.

Kevin Keegan 2008/9

Thanks to the generosity of Deveron Homes and our anonymous businessman this will be happening again next year. We are, at present, not sure of the format of this event next season but watch this space…the details will be finalised over the summer and the programme will be presented at the start of next season

this is really good-as you will all know I have put a lot of work into developing the youth programme and it is great to see the progress that has been made. A great deal of praise must go to all of those who have worked so hard to achieve this success, and we must capitalise on this next season with an even greater programme-remember that in our 10 standards to live by programme, the youth standard is to make huntly fc THE pace setter for young people who want to play properly coached football and learn about a good lifestyle.
