but you don't want to be spending your whole pre-season against high level opposition and getting gubbed every friendly.

yes it's good to get a crowd in for one big game but on the other hand it's easier to try new things in regards to players/systems against lesser teams.

and one reason we couldn't get home friendlies last term is because the pitch work was late in getting started last year was mailing due hosting the league cup final in Mid-May

no grant turner you are wrong.

yes its not about fans, but what it is about is ensuring you are adequately tested in all areas against differing levels.

Sadly last seasons pre-season was a write-off, even the players said so.

Lot of negativity around here just now. There isn't much point in getting gubbed but you do have to test yourself too! Wasn't long ago we'd of taken SPL opposition to CP and be happy to give them a game!

Almost agree but in this day and age I would argue it is also about the fans. Getting match practice and testing out the team is paramount but generating cash and building fans excitement for the coming season is important too! Hence the success of the Amsterdam/Rotterdam and Emirates tournaments, to name but a few. These tick all boxes, testing opposition, competitive edge, fans excitement and of course the all important cash!!
Not suggesting anything of that proportions but a few Glamour ties against teams that'll both test the team and get the crowd going surely isn't too much to ask?

Think you need a good balance of friendlies with hard ones to test and some easier (hopefully) ones, remember we should have some new players so no doubt the management will want games they can try some new things.
One of the reasons we didnt have a lot of pre season friendlies last season was because as Grant stated previously we couldnt use Christie Park due to its late seeding
Pele never believed in playing big clubs, prefering to play lesser teams to try and give all his players a workout and also to lessen the chance of pre-season injuries
Also not all big clubs want to play HL clubs - I know Andy has tried to get some big names but sadly they arent interested
Anyway as soon as Andy has confirmed all the friendlies we will publish the list on the site

I would imagine, Peterhead, Ross County and Caley will be at least 3 of out friendlies.

Huntly Ams would be a shout, Im sure they will need some games. A starting game for HFC. I retired a few months ago now, 3rd time of my career mind you so I could return. its more a spectator sport for me now.

I would certainly watch a Hnutly Ams V HFC match, Guildy V Ben ????, Ben scoring against Brems would certainly raise a laugh.

have to agree need a mixture

one easier game to start to get a few goals scored, a tougher one to see how things are going and one against higher league team to put you under pressure to see what needs working on and then another slightly easier one to see if these areas have improved and get a few more goals

As I have said previously Andy has tried hard to get one or two big name club to come here for pre season friendlies but they are either already committed to playing other clubs abroad or arent interested in playing smaller clubs

There'll be a delay on announcing friendlies now due to other associations
