We are the Shrimps and Southend are the Shrimpers. It's a common mistake, but then again some people use it to try and wind us up. Obviously you did't know so I will let you off.

PostSubject: where to stay...   Mon May 12, 2008 7:26 pm

Depends how much you want to pay really. Would recommend the Craigwell Hotel (01524 410095) on the promenade, very clean and friendly and the owner is a Morecambe Fan, some Shrimps staff stay there before the games, great views and good breaky. The Clarendon (01524 414223 or 410180) also on the prom at the other end of town (about a mile and a half away) which has been recently re-furbished but is a little dearer. Then there is the recently rebuilt Midland, opens next month, not cheap but very grand and modern at the same time.
I would imagine if you are like we were at yours, cheap and clean is what your after so go for the Craigwell.

If you fancy a curry and a few beers the Magic Bus crew will gladly show you the way on Saturday after the game. Morecambe is quiet but there are a few good old pubs, Lancaster (just over 3 miles away) is bustling with 15,000 full time students so plenty of uber-pubs and late places to party.

Keep in touch.
Hope this is useful.
Be good to see you btw.
